Down Syndrom: Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award

Heute findet in Denver die "BE BEAUTIFUL, BE YOURSELF" jet set fashion show statt.
Was nach einem puren Schickeria-Event klingt, hat einen ganz besonderen Hintergrund.

Ich zitiere ein wenig von der Website zum Event, wo Ihr alles weitere selbst nachlesen könnt:

Named by Time Magazine as one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century, Quincy Jones has recieved 27 Grammy Awards and 79 Nominations.

Quincy's legendary partnership with Frank Sinatra produced the arrangement Fly Me To The Moon. He Produced Michael Jackson's multi-platinum albums Off the Wall, Bad, and Thriller. He won an Emmy Award for the musical score in Roots, wrote 33 major motion picture scores, and garnered 7 Oscar Nominations. He co-produced Alice Walker's The Color Purple that received 11 Oscar Nominations. Most recently, Quincy released the coffee-table book "The Complete Quincy Jones: My Journey and Passions," which hit the best seller list of The New York Times.

All the while Quincy has been giving back. He pioneered the model of using celebrity to raise money and awareness with the historic We Are The World that he produced and conducted. He worked tirelessly with Bono to raise billions to end third world debt. Quincy has a deep compassion for those less fortunate. In 2007 he wrote the award winning score for the closing ceremony of the World Special Olympics in Shanghai. In 2008 Quincy became the international spokesperson for the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome.

The Global Down Syndrome Foundation is proud to establish the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award. We are humbled and thrilled that Quincy will be in Denver to receive the inaugural Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award.

Quincy Jones' remarks at the announcement of the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome
September 22, 2008
" I believe from the bottom of my heart that every child on this planet has something to offer mankind and they can soar to the highest mountain tops if they are given the opportunity to do so. As the first national institute that will comprehensively address the basic clinical research and care for people with Down syndrome, I have no doubt that the Linda Crnic Institute will be the worlds' leading care center for those impacted by this affliction. It will also provide an avenue for obtaining undeniable and fundamental civil rights for these beautiful children, so that they can achieve everything they can imagine. I am enthusiastically looking forward to working with the patrons of this institution to bring those goals to fruition in any way I can."
